Design Trends 2026
Jan 17, 2025
As we enter a new calendar year, we're witnessing both the merging of fresh interior design trends and the reaffirmation of traditional ones. Grounded textures and colors, sustainable materials, and comfortable elegance are gaining prominence in this ever-changing landscape. Each trend below reflects a stylistic narrative as designers try to capture the trends of the moment and maintain timeless appeal.
1. Warm, textured finishes
Textured finishes and fabrics add warmth and coziness to any space. Tactile bedding, plush upholstery, rustic wooden panels and other lived-in surfaces create an atmosphere of comfortability and softness that is growing ever popular this year.
2. Grounded colors
As seen in the “Colors of the Year,” earthy tones with deep elegance are making their mark. Timeless elegance meets biophilic softness with these colors, as they root your space with an organic touch. After years of bright whites, taupe and creams are now desired to bring a softness into the space. Pair with sustainable materials like hardwoods and these earthy and warm browns and reds create beautiful spaces.
3. Soft kitchens
Kitchens are the heart of the home and should look like it. Soft kitchens reflect the comfort of a cooked meal. Instead of a kitchen being sterile, white, and highly functional, soft kitchens feature wooden cabinetry, tactile and matte surfaces, and lots of character. High-gloss and white are out, soft kitchens bring personality, comfort, and calm into the heart of the home.
4. Sustainability and Biophilic Design
Sustainable materials and biophilic design continue to be top priorities for architects and designers. Choosing FSC® Certified hardwood and panel products and other materials that are ethically produced are both in demand by the consumer and the planet. Biophilic design, like natural lighting and natural materials continue to be a high priority for the benefits on mind and body they provide.
