European White Oak is a beautifully reliable and consistent lumber choice. Known for its workability and easy maintenance, European White Oak is suited for demanding applications including furniture making and interior millworking. It takes staining and finishing well, and has a timelessly elegant appearance.

Rift Sawn Lumber:
Rift Sawn Red Oak is produced by cutting the boards perpendicularly to the growth rings of the Rift Sawing creates a straight, narrow grain pattern without a prominent fleck. Rift Sawn expands and contracts across its thickness rather than width, creating a more naturally dimensionally stable product.
Lumber is a living product, responding to its environment as a tree does to its forest. Humidity, age, area and cut will slightly alter the appearance of the lumber product. The product images on this page are a sample of this species, not an exact depiction of the product you will receive.

Specifications
Prime Grade Lumber:
Using the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) Grading standard, Prime Lumber is a premium grade. Developed for the European export market, Prime captures grades within the Select and Better and FAS 1Face and better grades and ensures only the very best production, drying and packaging standards are used to meet the demands of that market.
Prime European White Oak is designed to meet a minimum yield of 831/3% (10/12ths) clear-wood cuttings on the best face. Allowed widths start at 6” and wider before kiln drying with lengths 7’ and longer.

Colour and Appearance
European White Oak has a light brown colour with golden or yellowish hues. It is olive cast and when compared to domestic White Oak. The texture is coarse and uneven. European Oak boasts premium colour and grain consistency due to its concentrated growing regions, having less variation than in American White Oak.
Workability
European White Oak is highly stable, making it ideal for intricate woodworking and long-lasting projects. It is versatile and durable and has excellent resistance to decay and moisture due to its grain structure.

As our most valuable resource, sustainably harvested forests increase the rate of carbon sequestration and significantly cut carbon emissions.
