Benefits of Plain Sawn Lumber:
Cutting tangentially through the tree’s growth rings, Plain Sawn Okoume utilizes the entire log while minimizing waste. The result is a grain pattern that displays a very traditional and recognizable cathedral pattern.

Workability:
Despite its hardness and natural oils, is a highly workable hardwood. It is easily machined and can be worked with hand tools, though account should be taken for potential edge blunting due to high concentrations of silica. Okoume is celebrated for its rot resistance, naturally withstanding water and weather. It is also termite resistant, making it an excellent choice for demanding applications. For enhanced durability and a darker look, Okoume can be easily finished and glued. In some cases, a preliminary cleaning and wood solvent application may be necessary to remove excess natural oil and ensure perfect staining and bonding of adhesives.
