Pollmeier Beech lumber is renowned for its consistent high quality, workability, moisture content and smooth surface. Beautifully soft brown, Beech comes in a range of widths, lengths and colour grades for unlimited design possibilities.

Superior 1 Face Grade:

Superior 1 Face is the ideal grade for single face applications. The top face of the board is a high yield of clear sapwood, free of knots, burls and mineral streaks with no demands on the back. Superior 1 Face is sanded smooth for a uniform texture and minimized processing time. An economical product, Superior 1 Face is a popular choice for millworkers and architects alike.

Plain Sawn Beech:

Cutting tangentially through the tree’s growth rings, Pollmeier Beech is Plain Sawn, utilizing the entire log while minimizing waste. The result is a grain pattern that displays a very traditional, dramatic cathedral pattern.

Pollmeier Beech is uniquely processed to ensure the highest quality lumber. Using proprietary technology, Pollmeier kiln dries square-edged Beech in uniform, stacked bundles with hot air flowing evenly through the individual layers. Pollmeier is lightly steamed to a moisture content of approximately 7-9% which prevents graying and enhances dimensional stability. Pollmeier Beech comes pre-sanded and is quality sorted according to the strict criteria of the American National Hardwood and Lumber Association (NHLA).

Width Options:

• Random Widths: The large diameter of Beech trees and Pollmeier cutting methods ensure a high average width and good width distribution. Random widths are available.
• Fixed Widths:Pollmeier Beech is cut efficiently in an automated rip-saw with the latest scanning technology. Fixed widths reduce transport and production costs.
• Sorted to Widths: Pollmeier sorts the timber in six width groups on request.

Workability:

Beech exhibits a tight, fine grain which can be machined easily. It readily accepts stains and finishes and can be painted to match any décor. Pollmeier Beech is pre-sanded for a beautifully smooth and uniform surface. Lightly steamed and conditioned, Pollmeier Beech has great dimensional stability, making it a popular choice for millworkers and architects alike.

Sustainability:

European Beech is a hardwood species with large harvesting potential when sustainably and naturally forested. Beech is the most common hardwood species in Germany, making up roughly 15% of the whole tree population. Strict laws ensure the sustainable management of forests, and the growth rate for Beech timber in Europe is significantly higher than the harvested amount. Between 2002 and 2012, Beech timber growth increased by 66 million cubic meters. Globally, Beech is a readily available hardwood. Pollmeier Beech adheres to the US Lacey Act.
