Fast growing and versatile, Radiata Pine is a sustainable and popular Softwood. The Molding & Better Grade specifies Radiata Pine for quality in molding and trim applications. This softwood is straight grained with a uniform, even texture. Due to its relatively moderate density and uniformity, it machines, glues, nails, and stains well. For an exceedingly versatile lumber, choose Radiata Pine.

Why Radiata Pine?

  • Sustainably harvested
  • Durable and relatively dense compared to other softwoods
  • Used for molding, casing, baseboards, or door frames
  • Takes finishing and staining well
  • Easily workable and machinable

Plain Sawn Lumber:

Cutting tangentially through the tree’s growth rings, Plain Sawn Walnut utilizes the entire log while minimizing waste. The result is a grain pattern that displays a very traditional and recognizable cathedral pattern.

Lumber is a living product, responding to its environment as a tree does to its forest. Humidity, age, area and cut will slightly alter the appearance of the lumber product. The product images on this page are a sample of this species, not an exact depiction of the product you will receive.

Specifications

Molding and Better Grade

Molding and Better Grade yields products of high visual quality, dried in climate-controlled chambers, which are ideal for use in molding, casing, baseboards, framing or furniture. This grade represents the best grade designed for applications where appearance is critical. The wood is straight grained and the colour variation is limited, and the lumber will be workable, paintable, and easily finished for its ended applications.

Workability:

Radiata Pine is an exceptionally workable softwood lumber. It glues, stains and finishes well, due to its uniform, even texture and straight grain. It is often used in construction, finishing, and furniture manufacturing due to its durability and stability.

Sustainability:

We recognize the importance of ethically harvested lumber. As our most valuable resource, sustainably harvested forests increase the rate of carbon sequestration and significantly cut carbon emissions. Wood is a renewable and sustainable material, requiring less energy than alternatives like concrete or steel. From harvesting to recycling, lumber is the most carbon-efficient choice for building materials. Wood is of the few elements that can increase sustainability in a building’s life cycle, reduce waste, and create positive biophilic health benefits. Increasingly, architects and designers are calling for a return to wood as the prominent basic building material.

As an early adopter of FSC®, we recognize the importance of sustainably harvested lumber. FSC® Certified lumber is available upon request. Contact your Sales or Specifications Representative for more information.
