Hardwood
Hardwood Plywood and, by extension, Wood Veneer Edgebanding, is defined by the types of slicing, matching, and grade of the wood product. With various methods of slicing and matching, veneers can be customized to each wood species and project, resulting in multiple exceptional options to make any project uniquely artful.
Plain Slice:
Plain Sliced veneer is produced by cutting roughly parallel to the centre of the log, tangentially to the growth rings. Generally, Plain Slicing produces a consistent appearance for each sheet, and creates a cathedral grain pattern on the surface.

White Birch Colour Grade:
Like Birch lumber, Birch veneer is graded by its colour. White Birch consists solely of the highly desirable white sapwood, a brilliant light tone unique to this species. White Birch has minimal colour variation and reduced allowance for natural characteristics like mineral streaks. Birch has a straight grain with a fine, even texture.

Fabrication
Wood Veneer Edgebanding is manufactured through an exacting process in which individual pieces of veneer are joined into a continuous roll by finger-jointing the veneer. This inflection point between different pieces of veneer is glued together and joined with a die cut finger layout and is colour and grain matched by flipping every other piece of veneer.
The Veneer is then laminated to a colour-matched fleece cellulous membrane to ensure the durability of the edgebanding. The edgebanding is offered non-glued, pre-glued, or prefinished.
Please consult with your Sales or Specifications Representative, as we can help you determine what is acceptable to you for colour, flitch size, size and amount of pin knots, rough grain or other defects in order to get you the product that works best for your applications.

Birch is widely available both domestically and internationally. Found in Eastern North America, Birch consists of almost 40 distinct species. Birch has been utilized in cabinetry and architecture for centuries. Birch is the ideal choice for long-lasting architectural projects because of its exceptional hardness and wear-resistance. It is an easily grown, sustainably harvested, domestic hardwood.
We recognize the importance of ethically harvested lumber. As our most valuable resource, sustainably harvested forests increase the rate of carbon sequestration and significantly cut carbon emissions. Wood is a renewable and sustainable material, requiring less energy than alternatives like concrete or steel. From harvesting to recycling, lumber is the most carbon-efficient choice for building materials. Wood is of the few elements that can increase sustainability in a building’s life cycle, reduce waste, and create positive biophilic health benefits.
